2 yr. Pictures

Bella finally let me take a few pictures of her! I could hardly believe that she didn't throw a fit and run away. Of course there was a little bribery involved - otter pops, marshmallows, and smarties! I have always loved pictures, but now I am really enjoying working on my new photography hobbie. My precious little ones are growing so fast that I want to be sure and capture these moments.

Hiking with Aunt Fawna

It was fun to have Aunt Fawna in town this week! She was able to spend a few evenings with us and we took a short hike together on Saturday.

So this is Bella's sad pouty face. Every once in awhile we would get too far ahead of Bella and she would stop and give us this look. She wouldn't say anything, just give us this dirty - I'm really mad at you look. Then one of us would have to pick her up and carry her for awhile until she was ready to walk again.

At one point, Samuel informed us that he was done hiking and turned around to head back to the car. Then they both decided they didn't want to walk, but instead wanted dad to carry them. Fawna was packing Big Buddy and neither Samuel or Bella wanted mom to hold them so I got off easy. Poor Chuck was really getting a work out with the kids fighting about carrying positions most of the way back!

I finally convinced Chuck that the kids "needed" a playhouse in the backyard. We looked at various options and Chuck decided he would like to build it, so he drew up the plans, bought all the material and has started on the project. The kids have fun "helping" him build and Samuel is especially excited about getting the playhouse done.

Some of our afternoons really seem endless! I look at the clock only to discover I still have hours until Chuck gets home. This week, to combat one of those afternoon slumps, the kids and I gathered pinecones and made Thanksgiving turkeys. I started out the project showing them how it was supposed to look only to have Samuel tell me he wasn't making his that way. And why should he have to make it the way I wanted - so they made their turkeys the way they wanted and had a lot of fun.

Such concentration!

The finished project!

Airshow

This weekend we took the kids to the airshow in Las Vegas. We have tried to make this a yearly tradition, but this year was challenging with the 3 little ones. To start things off, we had to wait in line for 45 minutes just to get on a bus to ride to the base, not fun with the kids. Then when we got there Samuel was just beside himself because the planes were so noisy. The poor guy just hates loud noise. So after a couple of hours we just left, but by then we had had enough fun!

You can't really see it in the picture, but Bella was wearing her monkey backpack with the leash Trina gave her. We were worried about her wondering off. The bad thing is that when we were waiting in line to go through the mags, they pulled us out a little early since we had the kids, strollers, bags etc. So I was trying to push the stroller through some rocks and had Bella by the monkey tail. I was trying so hard to keep the stroller from getting stuck in the rocks that I was going to fast for poor Bella and pulled her right over and then drug her on the ground. Chuck saw what was happening and heard the crowd gasp, I was oblivious to the whole thing until he started hollering at me to stop. I was pretty embarassed and felt bad for poor Bella! Luckily she is our tough girl so I brushed her off and she didn't even cry.

Samuel with one of the Thunderbird planes. We didn't stay to watch the Thunderbirds fly this year.

Isaac was the best one during this trip. He managed to sleep despite the noise.

The sad faces!

It was at this point we just packed up and left. Samuel was so mad and throwing a giant fit about wanting to go. Next year we're bringing ear plugs!

Las Vegas Springs Preserve

After the airshow and shopping at Babies R Us (I love buying little girls clothes there!) we went to the Las Vegas Springs Preserve. Chuck worked on a few projects at the Springs when we lived in Vegas and has been wanting to see the finished outcome. It was such a neat place to visit. I loved all of the beautiful desert vegetation and flowers. I felt so bad the entire time though because I hadn't brought my nice camera and there were so many great locations for pictures! Now we'll just have to go back!

So this picture makes me laugh because Isaac's head looks like it has been added to some other babies body. But no he just has a really big head!

No smiles, but at least their all looking!

I just loved the giant catcus.

Sweet Bella, who actually let me take a few pictures of her without running away.

Misc.

Bella wanted a spoon and climbed inside the drawer to get it. We were just glad it held her weight!

Samuel loves to wrestle even with poor Big Buddy

Isaac is now sitting up by himself. I love this age!

What A Week!

This was quite the week! Isaac wasn't feeling well last Sunday and we couldn't get him to sleep until after 1:00 a.m. and then he was up every 1.5 hours and the only way I could get him to fall back asleep was to feed him. I eventually just fell asleep in my rocking chair with him attached. So Monday morning I was already feeling beat. Then things really got exciting!

Bella has been doing really well with going pee on the potty, but she just can't get the other one down. Monday we were at the park with our little play group and I saw Bella running in and out of the restroom. She then started to get undressed so I handed someone the baby and went running to see what she was up to. When I got close she started saying, "I poop, I poop". And sure enough she had tried to take off her pants and get to the potty, but hadn't quite made it and there was poop all over her. I took off the clothes and got that mess cleaned up, but she had to run around like a little "redneck" for awhile with just her diaper and shirt on.

The only nice thing about her having the park accident was that at least it hadn't been in our house or so I thought. During her "quite time" in her room I heard her saying, "I poop, I poop" again. So I ran upstairs to survey the damage because this scene plays out at least every other day! This time I couldn't see too much damage, but she did have poop on her legs so I got her in the tub. Then I took her back to her room where she went around the side of her crib picked up an empty crayon box and handed it to me saying, "I poop" and sure enough there was a nice blob on the box she had just handed me. Then she went around to another 5 spots throughout her room and pointed out where else she had pooped. It was all over - rubbed on her couch in two different places and one giant spot on the carpet she had ground in. It was about this time that I heard the baby crying and Samuel started crying about something as well. So I ran downstairs to take care of the boys and get something to clean up the mess. Bella then climbed on the back of a chair and I turned around just in time to see her tip the chair over backwards and hit her head on the concrete floor. Then all 3 kids were crying and I was standing there thinking I'm the one that should be crying!!

But small miracles do happen and I found the answer to the pooping problem - thanks to another mom! It's a pain, but I turn Bella's pj's inside out and dress her in them for nap/quite time. The brillance of this is that she can't get them off - so no more undressing herself and making a huge mess!

Then on Wednesday afternoon Samuel and I went into the garage while the other kids were sleeping and got locked out of the house. I didn't have my phone or a key and none of our handful of neighbors were home. I knew the neighbor kids would be coming home from school in about 30 minutes so Samuel and I were stuck outside waiting for them while I was just praying the kids would stay asleep. Samuel started whining about being cold and wanting to go in the house. When I told him we couldn't then he wanted his daddy. Eventually the neighbor boy came by and I used his phone to call Chuck who came and let us in. And luckily the other kids were still asleep.

And to top it off, the end of the week I woke up about 1:30 a.m. because my eye was oozing and sure enough I had a case of pink eye. Luckily it didn't spread to the kids and the antibotic made it start feeling better right away. Let's hope this week is a little better!
